FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Who are the psychologists?
Licensed Lebanese psychologists — every one holds a license to practice in Lebanon, a graduate degree in clinical or counseling psychology, and works under ongoing supervision. We verify credentials before anyone joins, and re-verify yearly.
Who will be helping me?
One psychologist, matched to what you told us — your concerns, your language, your evenings. You’ll meet them in a free 15-minute intro call before anything starts, and you can switch anytime at no cost.
Is Sawa right for me?
Sawa is for Lebanese adults abroad dealing with everyday weights — anxiety, low mood, homesickness, burnout, relationships strained by distance. It is not a crisis service and doesn’t replace psychiatric care; in immediate danger, call your local emergency number or the Embrace Lifeline (1564) in Lebanon.
How much does it cost?
One plan: a 50-minute session every week at a time you choose, at your psychologist's rate (€50–100 a session), billed every two weeks. Messaging between sessions is included. Pause or cancel any time; a missed week rolls over to the next. Prices in euros, tax included, and the intro call is always free.
I signed up. How long until I’m matched?
Your three suggested matches appear the moment you finish the quiz. Most people book their free intro call for the same week — evenings and weekends included, in your own time zone.
How will I communicate with my psychologist?
Weekly 50-minute sessions over video or audio — your choice — in Arabic, English, French, or a mix. You can also message your psychologist between sessions.
Is what I share private?
Yes. Sessions are encrypted, your notes stay between you and your psychologist, and nothing is shared — not with insurers, not with employers, and certainly not with your relatives. The one exception is what the law everywhere requires: a serious, immediate risk to your life or someone else’s.
How long can I use Sawa?
As long as it helps — a few sessions through a rough patch or an ongoing weekly rhythm. There’s no minimum and no lock-in, and if you move countries again, your psychologist moves time zones with you.
Do I need a diagnosis to start?
No. Most people come with something heavy, not a label — stress, a rough season, a feeling that something is off. Your psychologist meets you where you are.
What happens in the free intro call?
Fifteen minutes, no forms and no pressure: you share what brought you, ask anything, and see how the conversation feels. If it clicks, you book a first session; if not, we suggest someone else.
Which time zones do sessions cover?
All of them. Our psychologists work mornings to late evenings Beirut time, which covers evenings from Sydney to Vancouver. You book in your own local time — the calendar does the math.
Can I do sessions from my phone?
Yes — video or audio from any phone, tablet, or computer with a stable connection. No app required; the session link opens in your browser.
What if I need to cancel a session?
Reschedule or cancel free up to 24 hours before. Inside 24 hours the session is charged, out of respect for your psychologist’s time — emergencies excepted, always.
Can therapy be in a mix of languages?
Of course — that’s how most of us actually speak. Start a sentence in English, land it in Arabic, borrow a French word in the middle. Your psychologist keeps up.
Do you see couples or families?
Yes. Several of our psychologists work with couples split across cities and families spread across continents — joint sessions happen over the same video room.
Is there a minimum commitment?
None. Book one session and stop there if you want. The monthly plan can be paused or cancelled anytime, and unused sessions roll over one month.
